Bandipora, Apr 28 (KNO): As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, police in Hajin have attached property worth approximately Rs 55 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler, officials said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesperson identified the accused as Lal Din Sheikh, son of late Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh, a resident of Hakbar, Hajin. He said the accused is involved in multiple cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused is named in FIR No. 33/2015 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act involving recovery of 102 kilograms of charas powder, and FIR No. 47/2023 under the same provisions involving recovery of 2.7 kilograms of charas powder.
The property was attached under Section 68 (1 & 2) of the NDPS Act following due legal procedure, officials said.
Police said the action is part of intensified efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the narcotics menace in the region.—(KNO)
